St. Aidan founded Lindisfarne Monastery on Holy Island in 635. The Lindisfarne Gospels, a 7th century illuminated Latin manuscript were written on the island. 

Lindisfarne remains today a holy site and place of pilgrimage for many. Each visit begins by crossing the dramatic causeway.  This atmospheric island allows visitors to follow in the footsteps of the ancient monks who built their priory nearly 1,400 years ago, with the added privilege of exploring the wild coastal beauty of Holy Island. 

I was inspired to create a series of images with contemplations to  acknowledge and share the impact Holy Island has had on me, along with the people I have met there.
