The legendary Scottish thistle is seen as a sign of resiliency, strength, resolve, protection, and pride. The flower’s hues of purple and pink are symbolic of regal splendour. They also symbolise power, dignity, and elegance. Mary Queen of Scots (1542-1587) had the thistle's image incorporated into the Great Seal of Scotland, making it a national symbol for longevity.
